You can put this solution on YOUR website! Anne decides to sell 28 fruits (apples and watermelons) from this years harvest. This total number of fruits must be twice the number of water melons more than the number of apples. if she expects a total revenue of $86 by charging $3 per apple and $7 per water melon, hoe many apples and water melons should she sell?
----------------------
Equations:
Fruit Equation: 28 = a + 2w
Value Equation: 3a + 7w = 86
----------------------
Substitute for "a" and solve for "w":
3(28-2w)+7w = 86
84-6w+7w = 86
w = 2 (# of watermelons)
-----
Solve for "a":
a = 28-2w
a = 28-4
a = 24 (# of apples)
