You can put this solution on YOUR website! the following are a list of temperatures that were recorded during a cold spell in cleveland: 29, 26, 17, 12, 5, 4, 25, 17, 23, 18, 13, 6, 25, 20, 27, 22, 26, 30, 31, 2, 12,27, 16, 27,16, 30, 6, 16, 5, 0, 5, 29, 18, 16, 22, 29, 8, 23.
A.)draw a circle graph to show how many days the temperatures was 0 degrees to 10 degrees, 11 degrees to 20 degress, 21 degrees to 30 degrees, and above 30 degrees.
1st:
Put all those numbers in ascending order starting
at 0 and ending at 31.
Notice there are 38 numbers
-------
2nd:
Count the number of numbers that are 0 to 10; divide that number by 38 to
determine the percentage of numbers from 0 to 10.
Do the same thing with the number of numbers that are 11 to 20, then 21
to 30, and finally above 30
You now have 4 percentages (they should add up to 100%).
----
3rd: Draw a circle and divide it with pie shapes that
approximate the 4 percentages you found above.
-------------------------------------------------------
B.)what is the range of the temperatures?
Range = maximum temperature - minimum temperature.
----------------------------------------------------
C.)make a stem and leaf plot of the temperatures.
Hopefully you know how to do this. If not, use Google
to see examples of data sets and their stem plot.
----------------------------------------------------
D.)find any outliers in the temperatures.
You need to determine the mean and the standard deviation
of the data. You need to find the data values more than
(3/2)standard deviations above the mean and the data values more then (3/2)
standard deviations below the mean.
----------------------------------------------------
E.)find the standard deviation of the temperatures.
You have done this for part D.

Stan H.
