Let's be x the smaller number and x+1 the greater. We write the equation as we read:3x+4(x+1)=137. We solve this linear equation:
3x+4x+4=137 => 7x=133 => x=19.
Answer: The smaller number is 19 and the greater is 20.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

let's the smaller of two consecutive integers be x
and the larger of two consecutive integers be x%2B1

three times the smaller integer is 3x
four times the larger integer is 4%28x%2B1%29
If added
3x%2B4%28x%2B1%29=137......solve for x

3x%2B4x%2B4=137

7x=137-4

7x=133
x=133%2F7
x=19.......the smaller integer
x%2B1=19%2B1=20.....the larger integer
check:
3x%2B4%28x%2B1%29=137
3%2A19%2B4%2819%2B1%29=137
57%2B80=137
137=137
