Question 458793: Explain what the domain and range are of a function. Find the domain of your selected function while showing your work, and explain the process.
15.) f(x)=2x+1

Week 7 DQ #1
	Show how to solve it using the substitution method, and explain this process.
Additionally, how do you know what the solution is when graphing a system of equations?

7.)
9x-2y= - 6
7x+8=y

Week 7 DQ #2
Show how to solve it using the elimination method, and explain this process.
1.)
Y=5 - 4X
       2X-3Y=13

Thanks Thanks! Practice work! Very Lost!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Explain what the domain and range are of a function. Find the domain of your selected function while showing your work, and explain the process.
15.) f(x)=2x+1
Solution:
When you don't see any denominators or sqrt in the function, the domain and range are all real numbers, that is, (-∞,∞)

Show how to solve it using the substitution method, and explain this process.
Additionally, how do you know what the solution is when graphing a system of equations?
7.)
9x-2y= - 6
7x+8=y
solution:
sub y=7x+8 into first equation
9x-2(7x+8)=-6
9x-14x-16=-6
-5x=10
x=-2
y=7x+8=7(-2)+8=-6
point of intersection:(-2,-6)
When graphing, if the lines cross, there is only one solution at the (x,y) coordinates of (-2,-6)
There is no solution if the lines do not cross.
..
Week 7 DQ #2
Show how to solve it using the elimination method, and explain this process.
1.)
Y=5 - 4X
2X-3Y=13
..
solution:
rewrite first equation
4x+y=5
2x-3y=13
multiply first equation by 3
12x+3y=15
2x-3y=13
add equations
14x=28
x=28/14=2
y=5-4x=5-8=-3
