There is nothing to solve. It is an expression not an equation. We solve equations.
Is x the same as X?
In math, they are not the same.
The expression can be factored. First factor out x
x^2+4x-12
find factors of -12 which add to 4
6 and -2
(x+6)*(x-2)
x*(x+6)*(x-2)

Solve x^3+4x^2-12x by factoring
..
x^3+4x^2-12x=0
x(x^2+4x-12)=0
x(x+6)(x-2)=0
x=0
x+6=0
x=-6
x-2=0
x=2
ans:
x=0, -6 or 2
