Question 458157: Suppose you are given a box whose interior measures 50 cm by 55 cm and is 30 cm high. What is the maximum number of MAT 115 textbooks you can pack inside the box without folding, cutting or otherwise damaging the books? You must try to visualize the solution and provide clearly written instructions or a detailed drawing to explain how you would place the books in the box.

Hint for Problem Two: You will have to measure the length, width, and depth of your textbook in centimeters (cm). As a group, compare the measurements taken by each person and then agree on one set of measurements to use in your solution.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! I think you will have to measure the dimensions of the textbook since I don't have a MAT 115 textbook, and the textbook could vary from course to course.

Book dimensions: measurements length = 26.2 Width = 20.9 cm Depth = 2.2 cm
------------------
Volume of box = 50*55*30 = 82500 cm^3
Volume of each book = 26.2*20.9*2.2 = 1204.676 cm^3
----------------
Max number of books in box <= 68 when rounded down
