Question 457771: Find the exact value of : sqrt(3)cot[theta]+1=0
I tried:
sqrt(3)cot[theta]=-1
cot[theta]= sqrt(3)/3
tan= sqrt(3)
Is this correct because another online problem solver got 7pi/4 for the awnser? I do not think this is correct because the tangent of that would be -1 not sqrt(3). Thank you very much!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
"sqrt(3)cot[theta]=-1" ___ okay

"cot[theta]= sqrt(3)/3" ___ HOW? ___ looks like you lost a minus sign

"tan= sqrt(3)" ___ should be -sqrt(3)

theta is 2pi/3
