my work.. 2-8=6, 7-1=5 ..so 6/5?..

You can put this solution on YOUR website! y2 - y1
-------- = slope
x2 - x1
(2,7) , (8,1)
you have your x's over your y's you should have that switched:
7 - 1
----- = slope {subtract the y's over subtracting the x's}
2 - 8
7 - 1
------ = m {subtract the y's over subtracting the x's}
2 - 8
6
-- = m {also, you had 7 - 1 = 5, it is 6}
-6
slope = -1
................
you could also do it this way, and get the same answer:
1 - 7
------ = slope
8 - 2
-6
--- = m {subtracted the y's over subtracting the x's}
6
slope = -1
