Question 454917: A jar contains 60 marbles, some of which are purple and the rest of which are yellow. Some of the marbles are glittery, and the rest are plain. If a marble is selected at random from the jar, the probability that it is purple if 4/15, that it is glittery is 2/3, and that it is either purple or glittery is 49/60. How many are yellow and glittery?
Thank you so much! I have no clue how to do this!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A jar contains 60 marbles, some of which are purple and the rest of which are yellow.
------------
Actually none are yellow and glittery.
---
I'm going to assume you meant "purple and glittery".
---
Purple: 4/15 = 16/60
Glittery: 2/3 = 40/60
Either: 49/60 = 49/60
-----------------------
P(Purple AND Glittery)
= [P(P) + P(G)]-P(P OR G)
= [(16/60)+(40/60)]-(49/60)
---
= 7/60
----
Seven are purple and glittery
