m^2 - 4m - 32 = 0
This can also be written as :
m^2 - 8m + 4m - 32 = 0
m(m - 8) + 4 (m - 8) = 0
Taking (m-8) as a common factor:
(m-8)(m+4) = 0
That is
m-8 = 0 and m = 8 or
m+4 = 0 and m = -4
