xy = 70
2x + 2y = 34
Substitute 70/y for x (from the first equation) into the second equation.
2(70/y) + 2y = 34
140/y + 2y = 34
Multiply everything by y.
140 + 2y^2 = 34y
2y^2 - 34y + 140 = 0
Divide everything by 2.
y^2 - 17y + 70 = 0
(y - 10)(y - 7) = 0
y = 7 or 10
