Not sure what you mean. Is 4/1/2 "Four divided by one and the result divided by two" meaning two or "Four divided by one-half" meaning eight or (as I suspect) "Four and one-half" meaning, well, four and one-half?
Whatever you decide you meant, to find the area, just multiply the length times the width. Since both of your sides are measured in yards, the area will be expressed as square yards.
