Question 448473: Find the domain of this function f(x)= Under a radical 16-x^2
Answer by htmentor(1343) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The domain is the set of all x for which the function is valid.
If f(x) = sqrt(16-x^2), since the radical can't be negative,
the function will be undefined if 16-x^2 < 0
So we need to find the range of x-values for which 16-x^2 >= 0
Factoring gives:
(4+x)(4-x) >= 0
So both 4+x and 4-x must be >= 0
This gives x >= -4, x <= 4
So the domain is [-4,4]
