If you construct an altitude of the triangle it divides the triangle into two equal 30-60-90 triangles. 30-60-90 triangles have side in this proportion 1:sqrt(3):2
Since the hypotenuse is 2sqrt(3) then the base is sqrt(3) and the altitude is sqrt(3)*sqrt(3)=3 of one of the 30-60-90 triangles.
