I think you left out a "2" in your posting.
(2x^2-2x-12)/(x-2)
Factor to get:
[(x-2)(2x+6)]/(x-2)
Cancel to get:
=2x+6
If you did not leave out a "2" in your posting
there is no way to reduce or simplify the problem.
