Question 444464: the sum of two numbers is 25. One number is twice the second plus seven. What are the two numbers Found 2 solutions by chriswen, solver91311:Answer by chriswen(106) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x be the second number.
Let 2x+7 be the first number.
...
x+2x+7=25
3x+7=25
3x=25-7
3x=18
x=18/3
x=6
2x+7=19
The two numbers are 19 and 6.
Can't tell. Your problem statement is ambiguous. Do you mean that to obtain one of the numbers I have to multiply the other number by 2 and then add 7, or do I have to add 7 to the other number and then multiply that sum by 2. The way your problem is stated, it could be either way. One way has integer answers and the other way has rational answers, but you don't specify other than to say they are "numbers" which could be anything.
