Question 443811: okay so iam doing my algebra homework. and in school i get it perfect-ally fine but than i came home and looked at it and iam so confused. it says " Solve each system by graphing " and than number one says ..
1.) x-y=7
3x+2y=6
and i remember my teacher saying you have to find the y's for each. but i don't know how to actually get the value of y for them.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! and than number one says ..
1.) x-y=7
3x+2y=6
and i remember my teacher saying you have to find the y's for each. but i don't know how to actually get the value of y for them.
----------------
x-y=7
3x+2y=6
------------
x-y = 7
x = 7+y
y = x-7
----------
3x+2y=6
2y = -3x + 6
y = (-3/2)x + 3
--------------
They're solved for y
To graph them, you need 2 points for each. Pick values for x and find y
y = x - 7
x = 0, y = -7 --> (0,-7)
x = 7, y = 0 --> (7,0)
Draw a line thru them.
---------------------
y = (-3/2)x + 3
x = 0, y = 3 --> (0,3)
x = 6, y = -6 --> (6,-6)
------------
You can pick any 2 points, or as many points as you like.
