f(x)= -2x^2+2x+8
f(x)= -2[(x-.5)^2 -.25] +8
f(x)= -2(x-.5)^2 +.5 +8
f(x)= -2(x-.5)^2 + 8.5 V(.5,8.5) Line of symetry is x = .5
a = -2 < 0 Parabola opens downward: f(x) maximum is 8.5
The value , f(1/2) = 17/2 is the maximum value for f(x)
