Square both sides.
%28sqrt%28p%5E2-3p%2B64%29%29%5E2+=+%28p%2B5%29%5E2
p%5E2-3p%2B64+=+p%5E2%2B10p+%2B25
39+=+13p
so p+=+3
But... since we are dealing with square roots, we must check that p=3 is not an EXTRANEOUS solution.
Subsitute p = 3 in for p^2 - 3p +64
3%5E2+-+3%2A3+%2B+64+++=+64
Since 64+%3E=+0 then p+=3+ is a valid solution.
