You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two houses on the same road are 10 miles apart.
The angles formed between the road and the lines of sight from the houses to a
cell phone tower are 51 degrees and 39 degrees.
Find the distances between each house and the cell phone tower (round to nearest tenth)
:
Find the third angle: 180 - 51 - 39 = 90 degrees, so it is a right triangle
Therefore
sin(51) = a%2F10
.777*10 = a
a = 7.8 mi, one house dist to tower
and
cos(51) = b%2F10
.629*10 = b
6.3 mi, the other house to the tower
