You can put this solution on YOUR website!
James is five times as old as Bill. In two years, he'll be three times as old, and in six years he'll only be twice as old. How old will James be in seven years?
----
Equations:
j = 5b
(j+2)= 3(b+3)
or
(j+6) = 2(b+6)
---------------------
Using the 1st 2 equations:
(5b+2) = 3b+9
2b = 7
b = 3.5 yrs old now
---
Solve for "j":
j = 5b
j = 5(7/2) = 35/2 = 17.5 yrs old now
----
In 7 years James will be 24.5 yrs old
