Question 439536: Differences of squares.Solve each equation by factoring. x^2 + 2/3g + 1/9 = 0
 Answer by rapaljer(4671)      (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! I'm assuming that you meant x^2 + 2/3x + 1/9 = 0.

This factors into (x+1/3)(x+1/3)=0

So, x+1/3=0, and therefore x=-1/3.

By the way, I have a complete explanation of FACTORING that is probably easier to understand than your own textbook. Go to my own website by clicking on my tutor name "rapaljer" anywhere in algebra.com. There you can click on the address of my website. On the Homepage of my website, you will find a link called "Basic, Intermediate, and College Algebra: One Step at a Time." Click on this link, then choose "Basic Algebra" and look in Chapter 2 for all the topics on FACTORINGl See also the FREE videos from my own classroom before I retired. To see the videos, return to my Homepage and look for "Rapalje Videos in Living Color." Again, choose "Basic Algebra" and look for the video on "FActoring."

You may also want to see my explanation of Quadratic Equations, also in Chapter 2 of Basic Algebra.
