Question 439040: I tried to do the problem but got stuck. Please tell me whether I am on the right track and how to solve (b)Thank you very much!!
From 1998 to 2002, deaths D in thousands from pneumonia can be modeled
by D= -6.05(x-1998) + 90.1, where x is the year
(a) Find the number of deaths from pneumonia in
1998 =(90.1 deaths) and 2002=(114.3 deaths).
(b) What is the slope of the graph of D? Interpret
the slope as a rate of change.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
From 1998 to 2002, deaths D in thousands from pneumonia can be modeled
by D= -6.05(x-1998) + 90.1, where x is the year
----
(a) Find the number of deaths from pneumonia in
1998 =(90.1 thousand deaths) and 2002=(65.9 thousand deaths).
(b) What is the slope of the graph of D?
D = -6.05x + 6.05*1998 + 90.1
-----
slope = -6.05
Interpret the slope as a rate of change.
The # of deaths decreases 6050 each year
after 1998.
