Question 43830: Fahrenheit and Celsius temperatures are related by the equation F=(9/5)C+32, where F is the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit and C is the temperature on the Celsius scale. If the temperature is a balmy 77 degrees Fahrenheit, what is the temperature on the Celsius scale?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! First, identify the formula and plug-in the values:
F =(9/5)C+32
F = 77
So, 77 =(9/5)C+32
Solve for C:
77 - 32 =(9/5)C+32 - 32
45=9/5C
(5/9)(45/1) = (9/5)(5/9)C
25=C
.
Check the answer by pluggin C=25 back into the original formula:
F =(9/5)C+32
77 =(9/5)(25)+32
77 =(9)(5)+32
77 =(9)(5)+32
77 = 45 + 32
77=77 Checks out.
