You can put this solution on YOUR website! Given perimeter of rectangle P = 36 inches
Let L and W be the length and width of the rectangle.
Also given that width is four inches bigger than length.
Therefore W = 4 + L
We know that formula for perimeter of rectangle is P = 2(L + W).
=> 2(L + W) = P
=> 2[L + (4 + L)] = 36
=> 2[L + 4 + L] = 36
Divide both sides by 2
=> (4 + 2L) = 18
Subtract 4 from both sides of equation
=> 4 + 2L - 4 = 18 - 4
=> 2L = 14
Divide both sides by 2
2L/2 = 14/2
L = 7
Therefore length of rectangle is 7 inches.
