Question 437692: if i had to build a pool that is 15 metres long, 5 metres wide and 2 metres deep and if the walls of the pool are to be made out of concrete that is 10 cm thick, what will the dimensions of the hole in the ground need to be? could you show me the calculations you used to work it out thanks
my second question on this same subject is how many cubic metres of concrete will be needed to build this pool?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if i had to build a pool that is 15 metres long, 5 metres wide and 2 metres deep
and if the walls of the pool are to be made out of concrete that is 10 cm thick,
what will the dimensions of the hole in the ground need to be?
:
A 10 cm wall will add 20 cm to the length and the width
15.2 by 5.2, length and width
:
It will add 10 cm to the depth, assuming you have 10 cm under the pool
2.1 m deep
A hole at least 15.2 by 5.2 by 2.1
:
:
how many cubic metres of concrete will be needed to build this pool?
:
Concrete Vol (V) = Total volume - pool volume
V = (15.2*5.2*2.1)- (15*5*2)
V = 165.984 - 150
V ~ 16 cu/m of concrete required
