You can put this solution on YOUR website!
"Median" means middle, so you are trying to find the middle of the set of given numbers.
To find the median, first arrange your numbers is ascending (smallest-to-largest) or descending (largest-to-smallest) order.
In your problem, the numbers are already arranged in ascending order.
One way to find the middle number (median) is to cover up the first and last numbers, then cover up the second and next-to-last numbers, and so on, until you see only one number. That number is the median of the set.
In your problem, this number is 6, so 6 is the median.
You'll notice that in your problem, since you had five numbers in the set you ended up with only one number in the middle. This will always be true when have an odd number (3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, etc) of numbers in the set.
When you have an even number (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, etc) of numbers in the set, you will find that you have two numbers in the middle.
To find the median of an even set of numbers, you will add the two middle numbers and divide the sum by two. The result will be the median.
