Question 437331: I need help. I am trying to solve addition and subtraction of rational numbers problem. I have to have a common denominator and I am not sure if I am right but this is the problem:
1/x + x/2x+4 - 2/x(sq)+2x
(sq=squared Not sure how to type that in)
This is a fraction problem and I think I have the right common denominator but I am not positive. And if it is not the right one, then I need help figuring how to get the right one in order to solve it. My solution for the common denominator is 2x(x+2). If this is right, I am doing something wrong and I am not sure what it is. Please help! Thank you Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You can't solve, it's not an equation, you can simplify it:
+ -
Factor the denominators + -
The common denominator is 2x(x+2), so you got that right.
:
Now you have:
:
: =
Cancel (x+2), then cancel x =
