You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If a plane can travel 490 mph with wind and 430 mph against the wind,
find the speed of the plane without a wind and the speed of the wind.
:
Let s = speed of plane in still air
Let w = speed of the wind
:
Two simple equations
s + w = 490
s - w = 430
--------------adding eliminates w, find s
2s = 920
s = 920%2F2
s = 460 mph in still air
:
I'll let you find the speed of the wind
