You can put this solution on YOUR website!
adding 4y ___ x = 12 + 4y

substituting the equivalent value of x ___ 2(12 + 4y) - 8y = 16

24 + 8y - 8y = 16 ___ 24 = 16 ___ this is an indication of an inconsistent system

multiplying the original 1st equation by 2, yields ___ 2x - 8y = 24

but the original 2nd equation states ___ 2x - 8y = 16 ___ this is inconsistent

graphically, the equations represent parallel lines

they never intersect, so there is no ordered pair solution
