You can put this solution on YOUR website!
One number is five times as larger as another.
The sum of their reciprocals is 3/5.
What are the numbers?
:
Let x = "one number"
then
5x = "another number"
:
1%2Fx+%2B+1%2F%285x%29 = 3%2F5
Multiply by 5x to clear the denominators, results:
5 + 1 = 3(x)
3x = 6
x = 2 is one number
and
5(2) = 10 = another number
:
:
Check
1%2F2+%2B+1%2F10 = 3%2F5
5%2F10+%2B+1%2F10 = 6%2F10
