Hi
selecting a card from an ordinary deck of 52 playing cards
a) P (non-face card 'or' 7 is drawn) = P(non-face)+ P(7)
12 face cards (3 in a suit) and 4 7's in the deck
P(non-face)+ P(7) = 40/52 + 4/52 = 44/52 = 11/13
b) P(not a king 'and' not a spade) = 37/52
39 cards are not spades (2 of these are Kings)
