(1.08)^x/(1.03)^x=14000/3500=4
(1.08/1.03)^x=4
take logs of both sides
xlog(1.08/1.03)=log4
x(log1.08-log1.03)=log4
x=log4/(log1.08-log1.03)=29.2453..
