Question 430168: How do I translate this sentence into an equation: one third of the differnce of a number and seven is 30? do I begin with division or subtraction? I'm so lost on this one. Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! n = the number
The difference can be n-7 or 7-n, a bit loose there.
Using n-7 as the difference:
(1/3)(n-7) = 30
or (n-7)/3 = 30
