Question 429137: I am very confused, can someone please help me.. Thanks so much :)

1. You recently started the paperwork to purchase your new home, and were just notified that you can move into the house in 2 weeks. You decide to hire a moving company, but are unsure which company to choose. You search online and are interested in contacting two companies, Heavy Lifting and Quick Move, to discuss their rates. Heavy Lifting charges an $80 fee plus $40 per hour. Quick Move charges $50 per hour with no additional fees. Both companies bill for fractional hours.
a. Which mover provides a better deal for 3 hours of work? How did you arrive at your answer?
b. Which mover provides a better deal for 15 hours of work? How did you arrive at your answer?
c. For what values h (hours) does Quick Move offer the better deal? Express your answer as an inequality. Explain how you reached your answer.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Heavy Lifting charges an $80 fee plus $40 per hour.
Quick Move charges $50 per hour with no additional fees.
Both companies bill for fractional hours.
:
a. Which mover provides a better deal for 3 hours of work? How did you arrive at your answer?
H.L: 3(40) + 80 = $200
Q.M: 3(50) = $150
:
b. Which mover provides a better deal for 15 hours of work? How did you arrive at your answer?
H.L: 15(40) + 80 = $680
Q.M: 15(50) = $750
:
c. For what values h (hours) does Quick Move offer the better deal? Express your answer as an inequality
let h = no. of hrs for this to be true
:
Q.M. < H.L.
50h < 40h + 80
50h - 40h < 80
10h < 80
h < 80%2F10
h < 8 hrs
For a move less than 8 hrs, Q.M. is cheaper. (at 8hrs, they are the same)
