Let x be the first number and y is the second number
x = 4 + 2y (1)
x + y = 25 (2)
Substitute (1) into (2)
4 + 2y + y = 25
3y = 21
y = 21/3
y = 7
Substitute y = 7 into (1) to find x:
x = 4 + 2(7) = 4 + 14 = 18
Thus the first number is 18 and second number is 7
