Question 427726: Jake has a Car with an 8-Gallon fuel tank. Jake fills his tank with gas and then drives 60 miles to a friend's house. when he gets to his friend's house he has 6 gallons left in his fuel tank. how many miles can jake travel on a full tank of gas?
I have tried it several ways:
8*60
and
6*60/2
but i'm sure that those wont give me the full tank amount.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Jake has a Car with an 8-Gallon fuel tank.
Jake fills his tank with gas and then drives 60 miles to a friend's house.
when he gets to his friend's house he has 6 gallons left in his fuel tank.
how many miles can jake travel on a full tank of gas?
:
First find out how many miles he gets from 1 gal.
If he travels 60 mi and uses 2 gal, (6 gal left) then 60%2F2 = 30 mi on 1 gal of gas.
then on a full tank of 8 gal he can go; 8 * 30 = 240 mi
