Question 425985: I have a teacher that is horrible. No one (literally) in our class can understand, because he doen't teach... I need to know the beasics of trigonometry and how you know which sides you need to use for the equations (sin, cos, tan). I reallyyy need help, thanks.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
There's also the option of teaching yourself; I had to teach myself algebra. Or hire one of our tutors.

Anyway, the trigonometric functions can be defined using a right triangle, but this is not the universal definition since it is only defined on angles between 0 and pi%2F2. Here is the right triangle definition:

Here, the Greek letter theta represents an angle. We define the trigonometric functions as follows:
sin%28theta%29+=+b%2Fc, cos%28theta%29+=+a%2Fc, tan%28theta%29+=+sin%28theta%29%2Fcos%28theta%29+=+b%2Fa
We also have trigonometric functions cosecant, secant, and cotangent. They are defined like this:
csc%28theta%29+=+1%2Fsin%28theta%29+=+c%2Fb, sec%28theta%29+=+1%2Fcos%28theta%29+=+c%2Fa, cot%28theta%29+=+1%2Ftan%28theta%29+=+a%2Fb.
