You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how much water must be evaporated from 36 ounces of a 5% salt solution to make a 9% salt solution
..
let x=ounces of water that must be evaporated.
36-x =ounces of water remaining.
Initially, you had 5% solution in 36 ounces of water.
The amount of salt in the solution did not change, it remained the same. You just reduced the amount of water to get a higher concentration of salt.
.05(36)=.09(36-x)
1.8=3.24-.09x
.09x=3.24-1.8=1.44
x=1.44/.09=16
ans:
16 ounces of water must be evaporated from 36 ounces of a 5% salt solution to make a 9% salt solution
