Nissi's rate of painting is (1 house)/(6 hrs)
Let t = the time it takes them to paint the
house working together
Just add their rates to get their rate working together
+1%2F4+%2B+1%2F6+=+1%2Ft
Multiply both sides by 12t
+3t+%2B+2t+=+12+
5t+=+12+
+t+=+2.4+
Their rate working together is (1 house)/(2.4 hrs)
To convert .4 hrs to minutes:
.4 hrs x 60%2F1 min/hr = 24 min
It takes them 2 hours and 24 minutes working together
