y = other number
x + y = 32 {sum of two numbers is 32
x - y = 14 {difference is 14}

2x = 46 {added the two equations together}
x = 23 {divided both sides by 2}
x + y = 32 {top equation}
23 + y = 32 {substituted 23, in for x, into top equation}
y = 9 {subtracted 23 from both sides}
23 and 9 are the two numbers
