Question 424134: Stuck on this one!
I select a number from the 12 numbers 1 through 12. Each number is equally likely to be chosen. Let A be the event: I chose an even number. Let B be the event: I chose a number less than or equal to 5.
Find each based on one selection from the 12 numbers.
a) P(A occurred or B occurred)
b) P(A occurred and B occurred)
c) P(A occurred given that B occurred

I think c is P(A|B)=2/5 but not sure the rest.

Hi
I select a number from the 12 numbers 1 through 12. Each number is equally likely to be chosen.
Let A be the event: I chose an even number: 6 even numbers from 1 to 12
Let B be the event: I chose a number less than or equal to 5. {5,4,3,2,1}
a) P(A occurred or B occurred)= 6/12 + 5/12 - 2/12 = 9/12
b) P(A occurred and B occurred)= 2/12
c) P(A occurred given that B occurred) = 2/5
