Question 423968: I am asked to find the values of the variables of a 30-60-90 special right triangle. I am given x as the hypotenuse, 10 as the longest side, and 6 as the shortest side. I am confused on how to set it up when only solving for one variable. This is what I first tried:
6/1= x/2= 10/root3. I cross multiplied, then divided and added both answers together to get my final answer. I got a weird answer of 32root3/3. I know this is not right but don't know how to solve correctly. Answer by linht117(37) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! draw a sketch of the triangle first it, might help you.
little leg= hypotenuse/2 or long leg/root3
long leg= little leg * root3
hypotenuse= little leg *2
x=6*2
x=12
