12% of 3000 = 12/100 x 3000/1 = 360 (people)

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Well you're almost there...first the 10 and 15 need to be written as decimals...and what you need to figure in is that x + y = 3000...so that y = 3000 - x and
.10x + .15y = 360 becomes
.10x + .15(3000 - x) = 360
.10x + 450 - .15x = 360
-.05x = -90
x = 90 / .05 = 1800
thus
1800 people laid off in aerospace and
1200 laid of in agriculture
