Question 421901: I have the problem y-3x-3=0
It is asking for slope, x-intercept, y-intercept and graphing. I have found the slope of 3/1 but am having trouble with the x and y intercepts. I came up with -1 for the y and 1 for the x, which I know are incorrect, please help, thank you.

the equation you are starting off with is y - 3x - 3 = 0

add 3x and add 3 to both sides of the equation to get:

y = 3x + 3

this is the slope intercept form of the equation, the standard form being y = mx + b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept.

in your equation, the slope is 3 and the y intercept is 3, looks like.

to find the x intercept, you set y = to 0 and solve for x.

you get 0 = 3x = 3

subtract 3 from both sides of the equation go get 3x = -3
divide both sides of the equation by 3 to get x = -1

that should be your x intercept.
