Question 421453: How do you solve the equation 5/2r=5? I tried it out on paper and got 1/2 because I made the 5 cancel out and they are equal to one when I do so, but I when I put it into the algebra solver it said it was equal to 2 and the example of how the problem was broken down was terribly confusing. Help please? Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) (Show Source):
5 = 10r {multiplied both sides by 2r}
r = 1/2 {divided both sides by 10}
Note:
When you put it in the solver, it probably read it as this:
(5/2)r = 5 {five-halves times r equals 5, rather than 5 over 2r equals 5} www.algebrahouse.com
