"what is the best estimate of the length of the side of a cube that has a surface area of 500 cm.^2"
A cube has 6 sides.
The length of each side is the same.....x
Each side has the same area......x^2
6x^2 = 500 {surface area of a cube equals 6(area of one side)}
x^2 ≈ 83.33333 {divided both sides by 6}
x ≈ 9.13 {took square root of both sides}
9.13 would be an estimate for the length of a side
