SOLUTION: I have tried and tried this equation but when I check it, it does not equal out right.
3/4 = 1-(3x-2)/(x+1)
This is what I am getting:
3/4-1 = 1-1-(3x-2)/(x+1) subtract 1 f

Question 419867: I have tried and tried this equation but when I check it, it does not equal out right.
3/4 = 1-(3x-2)/(x+1)
This is what I am getting:
3/4-1 = 1-1-(3x-2)/(x+1) subtract 1 from both sides
3/4-4/4=-(3x-2)/(x+1)
-1/4=-(3x-2)/(x+1) negatives cancel each other out
1/4=(3x-2)/(x+1) cross multiply
1(x+1)=4(3x-2)
x+1=12x-8 subtract 12x from both sides
-11=-7
x=7/11
Am i doing this right because it does not compute when checking? Answer by josmiceli(19441) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Looks OK except at the end.
Multiply both sides by
Subtract from both sides
Add to both sides
check the answer:
OK
