Question 419779: subtract and simplify
1/s+1 - s^2/s+1=
hi, i need to subtract this, both denominators are the same which is good.
i end up with 1-s^2/s+1.....
when you simplify i get s-1 for an answer but not 100% sure if doing this right..can someone confirm this.
(s+1)(s-1) / s+1

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
i think your answer would be (1-s)

when you combine denominators, you are left with:

(1-s^2) / (s+1)

this is equivalent to:

(1-s) * (1+s) / (s+1)

since (1+s) is equivalent to (s+1), then they cancel out and you are left with:

(1-s)

this is not the same as (s-1).
