You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A tooth on an idling chain saw has a linear velocity of 7 feet per second. Find the angular velocity of the nose sprocket if its radius is 1.5 inches.
..
Using dimensional analysis to solve:
let r=radius=1.5 inches
7ft/sec*rev/2pir inches*2pi radians/rev*12 inches/ft
=7ft/sec*rev/2pir inches*2pi radians/rev*12 inches/ft
cancelling out rev,ft,2pi and inches
=7*12 radians/r sec
=84/1.5=56 radians/second
ans:
The angular velocity of the nose sprocket is 56 radians/sec
